In May 2018 TODEC's Youth Groups began to brainstorm on how to best support kids that had been separated from their families at the border. TODEC's youth come from different paths of life, many of them being Central American who also arrived in the United States as undocumented migrants and had also spent time in immigration detention centers decided to launch this initiative to write letters of support to migrant children who are currently being detained by the federal government. #LettersOfLoveToKids Campaign began as a localized campaign, but as people started learning about it thanks to our supporters it took off. To date we have received over 10,000 letters from good hearted people from all over the country including Spain. "In a nation that is politically divided, we are humbled to see how love and compassion reign!"
To date we have delivered over 10,000 letters to Detention Centers in San Ysidro, California, Arizona and Brownsville, Texas. TODEC's youth have expressed that the #LettersOfLoveToKids Campaign will continue until all children are reunited with their parents.
