service through the Universal Lifeline Telephone Service (ULTS)

What
is ULTS?
ULTS is a program that offers eligible Californian households,
with or without existing phone service, local telephone service
at a reduced rate - approximately half the cost of regular local
phone service.
Why
should I consider ULTS?
ULTS is a low-cost way for households to stay connected to emergency
services, family members and friends, service providers, and employment
opportunities. ULTS is a program of the California Public Utilities
Commission and is supported by community organizations in your
neighborhood and around the state.
Who
can enroll in the program?
Eligibility is based on the household size and income. The following
criteria must be met to receive ULTS:
+Total gross household income is no more than $17,750 for 1-2
people, no more than $20,910 for 3 people, and no more than $25,090
for 4 people. For households larger than 4, add $4,180 in income
for each additional household member. * Children are considered
household members. +The income level is adjusted annually for
inflation;
+There can be only one residential phone line in the household;
+The household is the subscriber's main residence; and
+ The subscriber is not claimed as a dependent on another person's
income tax return
